Two creatures are lost in a wind farm. Wandering around half-alive, half-dead, torn between laughter and pain, they exist in a state of perpetual metamorphosis: both exhausted night-shift workers and disoriented animals. With comic physicality and sly banter, they embody the relentless struggle against the artificial divisions imposed by colonialism—the refusal to surrender to the extractivist monster devouring lands, bodies, and souls.
Vampyr is an environmental satire in the form of a mockumentary about the impact of wind turbines on an endangered bat population. With biting humour, Chile’s Manuela Infante Güell gives the familiar vampire legend a South American twist. In a world of relentless exploitation in the name of the green economy, the vulnerable figure of the vampire reminds us of our insatiable hunger for resources. Replete with absurdist and philosophical undertones, "Vampyr" debunks fantasies of progress and eternal life once and for all.
