The solemnity of the liturgical text joins “Darkness,” Lord Byron’s 1816 poem depicting a world collapsing after a climate disaster. A profound reflection on collective mourning, the urgency of solidarity and the need for human and social transformation. Around Wainwright’s narration, a monumental scene emerges: the OM, Chœur Métropolitain, Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal and soprano Angel Blue, united under Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s baton. A dialogue between poetry and music that questions our present and preserves the tradition of the great requiems.
